Welcome to Dorking Medical Practice

The practice comprises a purpose-built surgery in Dorking town centre (New House Surgery), a dispensing surgery at the top of Box Hill (Hillside Surgery) and a dispensing surgery in the village of Westcott (Riverbank Surgery).

The practice was first established in the 1930’s and was based in The Old House, South Street. Dr Pip Young joined Dr Bale in 1981, swiftly followed by Dr Giles Guthrie in 1982 when Dr Ian Clarke retired. Dr Guthrie’s practice at Hillside Cottage, Boxhill (which he took over from his father) joined with The Old House and so New House Surgery was founded in 1984. When Dr Young retired in 2011, the practice became known as Dorking Medical Practice. In October 2018 Dorking Medical Practice merged with Dr Thomas Guilder's practice in Westcott.

Extended Hours Access to GP Services in Dorking

Patients can now also be seen outside of normal GP opening hours by a local GP or practice nurse:

  • Monday to Friday 6.30pm to 9pm
  • Saturday 9am to 1pm
  • Sunday 9am to 12pm

Please click on this for further information and speak to one of our receptionists to book an appointment.

Musculoskeletal Practitioners and Clinical Pharmacists now working at the practice

  • Musculoskeletal Practitioners - these clinicians will assess and diagnose any problems associated with a joint, muscle or bone. They are highly trained, skilled and experienced in managing problems including a painful neck, back, hip, knee or ankle joint, tennis elbow, sciatica, arthritis ..... and more.
  • Clinical Pharmacists - need a medication review? Experiencing problems with your prescribed medication? Our in-house pharmacist is here to help you.

Please speak with one of our receptionists using any of the phone numbers above for a consultation. They are often a better option than seeing a GP as they are more specialised in their field, have a shorter waiting time and will have longer appointment times with you.

At New House Surgery, our consulting rooms are on the ground and first floor. If you are unable to go upstairs, please advise the receptionist when making an appointment or on arrival. The entrance to the building is on one level and we have automatic opening front doors. There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. New House Surgery has a reserved parking space at the rear of the building for Blue Badge Holders.  There are very few general parking spaces so whenever possible, patients should use the public car park on the other side of South Street.  At Hillside Surgery, consulting rooms are on the ground floor and parking is available at the roadside. At Riverbank Surgery, consulting rooms are also on the ground floor and parking is available in the parking bays.
