Welcome to Dorking Medical Practice
The practice comprises a purpose-built surgery in Dorking town centre and a dispensing surgery at the top of Box Hill.
The practice was first established in the 1930’s and was based in The Old House, South Street. Dr Pip Young joined Dr Bale in 1981, swiftly followed by Dr Giles Guthrie in 1982 when Dr Ian Clarke retired. Dr Guthrie’s practice at Hillside Cottage, Boxhill (which he took over from his father) joined with The Old House and so New House Surgery was founded in 1984. When Dr Young retired in 2011, the practice became known as Dorking Medical Practice.
We regard ourselves as a modern, forward thinking and friendly practice at the heart of the Dorking Community. Whilst keeping abreast of the many exciting developments in the investigation of medical problems and their treatments, we remain committed to the ideals of traditional family medicine, namely a holistic approach with continuity of care. To this end, all the staff attend regular educational courses and have performance reviews.
We strive to offer our patients choice both in personal and timing of appointments. In an increasingly complex society we place a high value on the need to respect patient confidentiality in all age groups. Above all we try to make the surgery environment as relaxed and friendly as possible without compromising overall efficiency.
At New House Surgery, our consulting rooms are on the ground and first floor. If you are unable to go upstairs, please advise the receptionist when making an appointment or on arrival. The entrance to the building is on one level and we have automatic opening front doors. There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. New House Surgery has a reserved parking space at the rear of the building for Blue Badge Holders. There are very few general parking spaces so whenever possible, patients should use the public car park on the other side of South Street. At Hillside Surgery, consulting rooms are on the ground floor and parking is available at the roadside.
We now have Clinical Pharmacists and Musculoskeletal Practitioners working at the practice to help medication and musculoskeletal joint or muscular problems in addition to our nurse, HCA and Doctors. Please contact the Surgery on 01306 881313 to make an appointment.
